Alloy C276 tube is a nickel-based superalloy renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance in extreme environments. Its chemical composition includes nickel (∼57%) as the primary element, providing a stable matrix, along with molybdenum (15–17%) and chromium (14.5–16.5%) to resist pitting, crevice corrosion, and oxidizing agents. The addition of tungsten (3–4.5%) enhances strength in reducing conditions, while iron (4–7%) balances structural integrity. A low carbon content (≤0.02%) minimizes carbide formation during welding, preserving corrosion resistance. Trace elements like cobalt (≤2.5%) and controlled levels of manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur further optimize performance.

Hastelloy alloy c276 tube offers a robust combination of mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and excellent toughness across a wide temperature range. Its nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten matrix ensures exceptional resistance to creep, fatigue, and stress-corrosion cracking, even in aggressive environments. With a yield strength and elongation exceeding, it retains ductility after prolonged exposure to extreme thermal cycling. The alloy’s moderate work-hardening rate facilitates cold forming, while its low magnetic permeability and stable microstructure make it ideal for critical components requiring corrosion resistance paired with structural reliability.

• Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: The corrosion resistance of hastelloy c276, also known as N10276 nickel alloy, stems from its nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten matrix, which forms a robust passive oxide layer. It excels in resisting localized corrosion (pitting, crevice corrosion) even in chloride-rich environments like seawater or hydrochloric acid. Unlike stainless steels, it withstands reducing and oxidizing media, including sulfuric acid (up to 10% concentration at 50°C) and hypochlorite solutions.  

• High-Temperature Stability: Hastelloy c276 tubing retains 90% of its room-temperature tensile strength at 400°C, with minimal thermal expansion. Its low carbon content (<0.01%) prevents carbide precipitation during prolonged high-temperature exposure, avoiding embrittlement. Even at cryogenic temperatures (-196°C), it maintains ductility.

• Low Magnetic Permeability: Alloy c276, also know as 2.4819 material, exhibits near-zero magnetic permeability (µ <1.005 at 200 Oe), a rare trait among nickel-based superalloys. This property arises from its austenitic microstructure stabilized by nickel and molybdenum. It is ideal for MRI equipment, semiconductor manufacturing tools, and subsea sensors where magnetic interference must be avoided. Unlike ferritic or martensitic steels, it ensures signal integrity in sensitive electronic environments while maintaining corrosion resistance.
