Alloy C22 tube is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy engineered for exceptional corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments. Its high chromium content enables robust protection against oxidizing agents (e.g., nitric acid, chlorides) through a stable Cr₂O₃ surface oxide layer, while molybdenum and tungsten synergistically enhance resistance to reducing acids (e.g., hydrochloric, sulfuric) and localized corrosion. The nickel matrix ensures ductility, thermal stability, and stress corrosion cracking resistance, supported by ultra-low carbon and controlled trace elements to prevent sensitization and phase instability.

Mechanical Property

Hastelloy alloy C22 tube exhibits a robust combination of high-temperature strength, ductility, and corrosion-fatigue resistance. Its room-temperature tensile strength and yield strength are complemented by exceptional elongation, ensuring resilience under dynamic loads. At elevated temperatures (up to 600°C), the alloy retains ~80% of its ambient strength, with chromium and molybdenum enhancing solid-solution strengthening to resist creep deformation. The austenitic nickel matrix provides inherent toughness and minimizes embrittlement during thermal cycling.

  • Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: Hastelloy C22 (also known as N06022) has exceptional resistance to both oxidizing and reducing corrosive environments stems from its optimized blend of chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten. Chromium forms a protective Cr₂O₃oxide layer that shields against oxidizing agents like nitric acid and chlorides, while molybdenum and tungsten synergistically combat reducing acids and localized corrosion (pitting, crevice corrosion) in chloride-rich or acidic media. With a pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) exceeding 70, it outperforms most stainless steels and nickel alloys.


  • High-Temperature Stability: Hastelloy C22 tubing retains ~80% of its room-temperature tensile strength at 600°C, thanks to solid-solution strengthening from chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten. Its austenitic nickel matrix ensures ductility and creep resistance under prolonged thermal exposure, while the stable oxide layer resists scaling and spalling even during intermittent high-temperature service. This thermal resilience, combined with low carbon content to prevent carbide precipitation.


  • Superior Weldability and Fabricability: The ultra-low carbon content and controlled impurity levels of alloy C22 (also know as 2.4602 material) eliminate sensitization risks during welding, enabling reliable fabrication via TIG, MIG, or laser welding without post-weld heat treatment. Its nickel-based FCC structure provides exceptional ductility, supporting cold working and hot forming into complex geometries like thin-walled tubes. This combination of weldability and formability ensures structural integrity in aggressive environments.
