Within specific concentration ranges, its resistance to inorganic acids rivals that of high-alloy austenitic stainless steels. Compared to other 25Cr-type duplex stainless steels, super duplex S32760 exhibits superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Additionally, it demonstrates outstanding resilience against chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, erosion corrosion, and corrosion fatigue.

Main Features

  • Hot Forming: S32760 tube shows excellent hot formability with relatively low forming loads up. The recommended hot forming temperature range is from 1230°C to 1000°C (2250°F to 1830°F). Excessive temperatures can compromise the material's dimensional stability, rendering it overly pliable for specific forming processes. Conversely, temperatures that are too low may lead to deformation concentrating in the less ductile ferrite, risking fissures within the deformed area and potential precipitation of a significant volume of sigma phase.


  • Cold Forming: The grade S32760, also known as stainless steel 1.4501, can be used for cold working by most common stainless steel forming methods, to increases strength and hardness. Compared to austenitic steels, this material boasts higher yield strength but lower ductility, necessitating fabricators to apply greater forming pressures, wider bending radii, and allowances for springback to achieve desired shapes.


  • Good Weldability: S32760 possesses good weldability and can been welded by by shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, plasma arc welding, flux cored wire, submerged arc welding, or other standard welding processes. Preheating of duplex S32760 is not necessary except to prevent condensation on cold metal. When a filler metal is required, consider S32760/P100, because it will produce the appropriate duplex weld structure. 

Common Surface

After Acid Pickling (AP), Mechanical Polishing (MP), Bright Annealed (BA), and Electropolished (EP) , the steel S32760, also known as F55 stainless steel, can more effectively resist the erosion of corrosive media, maintain the surface finish and gloss, and has higher wear resistance. This makes it an ideal material choice, especially for applications that require high appearance and functionality.
