Die steel

• Overview

  Die steel is used to make injection mould, cold stamping die, hot forging die, die casting die, extrusion die and so on. Die is machinery manufacturing, radio instrument, electric machine, electrical appliances, industrial production and other main processing tools. The quality of the die directly affects the quality of the pressure processing technology, the precision of the product, the output and the production cost, and the quality and service life of the die in addition to the reasonable structure design and processing precision, mainly affected by the die material and heat treatment.

• Classification

  Die steel can be roughly divided into cold working die steel, hot working die steel and plastic die steel, which are used for forging, stamping, cutting, die casting and so on. Because of the different uses of various molds and complex working conditions, the steel used for molds should have high hardness, strength, wear resistance, enough toughness, high hardenability, hardenability and other process properties according to the working conditions of the molds manufactured. Because this kind of use is different, the working conditions are complex, so the performance requirements of die steel are different.

• Application

  Cold working die steel

  Cold working die steel is mainly used to manufacture the die for pressing forming the workpiece in cold state, such as cold punching die, cold stamping die, cold drawing die, stamping die, cold extrusion die, thread pressing die and powder pressing die. The range of cold working die steels is very wide, from various carbon tool steels, alloy tool steels, high speed tool steels to powder high speed tool steels and powder high alloy die steels.

   

  Hot working die steel

  Hot working die steel is mainly used to manufacture the die for pressure processing of the workpiece under high temperature, such as hot forging die, hot extrusion die, die casting die, hot upsetting die, etc. The commonly used hot working die steels are: medium and high carbon alloy die steels with Cr, W, Mo, V and other alloying elements; High alloy austenitic heat resistant die steels are sometimes used for hot working die steels with special requirements.

   

  Plastic die steel

  Because there are many kinds of plastic, the requirements for plastic products are also very different, and the materials for manufacturing plastic molds are also put forward a variety of different sexual requirements. Therefore, many industrially developed countries have formed a wide range of plastic mold steel series, including carbon structural steel, carburized plastic mold steel, pre-hardened plastic mold steel, age-hardened plastic mold steel, corrosion-resistant plastic mold steel, easily cut plastic mold steel, integral hardened plastic mold steel, martensitic aging steel and mirror polishing plastic mold steel.
